Situation Mount Linton Station is situated on the eastern side of the Takitimu mountains in Western Southland with a rainfall of between 760 - 1150mm and an altitude varying from 120 - 800m above sea level (asl) with the majority being under 500m (asl)
Directions from Invercargill: Proceed from Dee Street, north bound onto SH6 to Winton
Once in Winton follow Great North rd out of town 3km until signs for SH96 can be seen
Turn left onto SH96 and follow rd through to Ohai
Carry on through Ohai after approx 5km on the right the MTL sign can be seen
Turn right following the rd as it curves left over the bridge on a gravel rd
Follow this until a T-junction where you will see Mount Linton office on your left
Directions from Gore: From Main Street follow SH1 out of town to Mataura
Heading out of Mataura SH96 (Glencoe) will be on your right
Turn right onto SH96 to Winton
Once you reach the T-junction turn right (Winton-Hedgehope hwy) heading North for Queenstown SH6
Approx 3km out of Winton, past a cemetery (on the right), signs for SH96 (Nightcaps / Ohai) can be seen
Turn left onto SH96 and follow rd through to Ohai
Carry on through Ohai after approx 5km on the right the MTL sign can be seen
Turn right following the rd as it curves left over the bridge on a gravel rd
Follow this until a T-junction where you will see Mount Linton office on your left
